Talent search has been existing for many years. A lot of popular bands, solo artists, actors and other performers were discovered through various talent searches. Currently, the trend in talent search has been becoming more popular than ever. Show organizers, producers and many in the entertainment industry are determined to launch talent search shows one after the other. While America’s Next Top Model is for aspiring models and Project Runway for aspiring fashion designers, rock and roll performers can showcase their talent through Rock the Roxy. Rock the Roxy is a contest that has been going on for quite a few years now. Joining the competition is fairly easy! Bands or groups are required to post their 3-minute music video to YouTube and must be submitted as a video response to Rock the Roxy Contest Info video.

Contest criteria says that the top 50 videos with the most number of views will be given the chance to move to the semi-finals. Hence, asking your friends to help spread the word about your video is definitely one trick to be on the top spot.
While 50 bands are usually chosen to move to the semi-finals, it may vary depending on the organizers and sponsors. In addition to moving to the next round, semi-finalists are also rewarded with gift packages from various sponsors.
In the semi-final round, judges which include representatives from sponsors, determine who will be the winner to take home amazing prize package. The previous year’s prize package includes performance at The Roxy/Swing House Studios at an Austin showcase, gear from Zildjian, Ibanez, Marshall, Vox, Guitar World and Korg, one year endorsement deal with the sponsors D’ Addario, Evans and Planet Waves worth $5,000, airfare for up to five band members to Austin, Texas and hotel accommodation for two nights. Transportation to and from the airport and hotel, spending money worth $500 and professional backline will be provided as well. Who knows what’s in store for this year’s big winner!
